For over 30 years San Sebastian has been maintained by volunteer work and funding! This is nearly unheard of in todays modern neighborhoods. Most have stacks of rules and the ability to lien your property. But not in San Sebastian. Here you have a choice.
San Sebastian has an optional homeowner’s association that works to maintain the common areas; in particular, the entrances. The association also sponsors community garage sales, Yard of the Month awards and message boards located at each entrance. This website is one of the newest additions to the association. In the past there was another successful site, but as funding dropped the association was unable to maintain it any longer.
While the association nearly met its demise earlier this year due to lack of volunteers and funding, it is slowing reviving with the support of homeowners who know the value of maintaining the “curb appeal” of their neighborhood.
Communities that are well maintained retain property values much better that those which are not. This is why it is so important that all owners take an interest in their neighborhood. The most effective way to do this is by supporting an association that organizes the efforts of all of the owners. Here are a few ways you can support your neighborhood: ü Pay the low annual dues that help pay for mowing and maintenance of common areas. ü Volunteer on work days and for projects which help to keep costs to a minimum. ü Maintain your home’s exterior and therefore its value. ü Get to know your neighbors and enjoy this great neighborhood
